Wookie Garcia is a San Diego original band playing their own brand of great American rock and roll.  The songs feature memorable melodies paired with thoughtful lyrics, and have been compared with the work of the Gin Blossoms.  Imagine a combination of the roots feel of Son Volt, paired with the pop sensibility of Tommy Keene, and you'll have some idea of this band's sound.  The band is made up of guitarist Kyle Ince, a veteran of SD bands Usual Suspects and Hatfield Rain, vocalist Brian Sharkey, also from Usual Suspects, drummer Jason Sumner-LaRussa, from Haywire, and bassist Mark Tucker, also from Usual Suspects and Hatfield Rain..

Live Shows

The band has been playing San Diego clubs since January 2009 to a steadily growing following. Live, Wookie Garcia offers up a punchy combination of new original songs and rarely heard gems from such artists as Richard Thompson, Stan Ridgway and Tom Waits.
